Gulangyu Islet just off the coast of Xiamen Island is not only beautiful but historic. This UNESCO world heritage site boasts a plethora of consulates and historical buildings, long winding scenic lanes, and beautiful beaches. It was once the only foreign settlement on China’s soil apart from the more commonly known city of Shanghai.
