Position: STEAM Teacher
Objectives of this Role
As a STEAM Teacher, you’ll lead engaging, hands-on learning experiences in our cutting-edge Innovation and Maker spaces. Your instruction will focus on computation, robotics, digital crafts, and more, all grounded in engineering, computer science, and ISTE standards. You’ll empower students to create, invent, and problem-solve through tinkering and iterative processes.
Duties and Responsibilities
Instruction and Integration:
Design and deliver a curriculum that inspires students to create, innovate, build, and design.
Develop, assess, and manage STEAM learning experiences that foster critical thinking and collaboration.
Cultivate a classroom culture that reflects the school’s mission, vision, and values.
Encourage students to explore and find their own solutions through hands-on, iterative projects.
Deliver rigorous, well-organized lessons to ensure students meet their academic goals.
Structure classwork and projects that promote teamwork while providing guided support.
Create a maker-space environment filled with tools, materials, and student work that inspires creativity.
Maintain open, frequent communication with parents and stakeholders to build strong relationships.
Uphold the highest professional standards in all interactions with students, staff, and parents.
Collaborate with colleagues to integrate STEAM principles across the curriculum and develop cross-curricular units.
Professional Growth:
Stay current with educational technology trends and be eager to learn new software and tools.
Participate in professional development to enhance your ability to use technology in instruction.
Requirements
Education, Training, and Qualifications:
A relevant degree with a PGCE or other teaching qualification granting QTS.
Evidence of ongoing, relevant professional development.
Knowledge and Experience:
Proficiency in at least one programming language (Java, Python, C++, JavaScript).
Familiarity with digital design software, such as CAD.
Experience with tools like 3D printing, laser cutting, and the maker movement.
Background in VEX/FIRST robotics, Future City, or similar programs is a plus.
